When Jennifer Stark and Maureen McNamara decided to make their small Amici's Pizza in Berkley a more environmentally friendly restaurant, they expected the process to be fairly simple.  They could recycle their cardboard, glass, plastic and metal. They'd get rid of Styrofoam cups and containers. They'd buy napkins made from recycled paper. There were lots of little things they could do to make a difference.

Study: Gen Y Shoppers Drawn To Greener Marketers

It’s not news that retailers are knocking themselves out to appear as green as possible to shoppers but a recent poll from Maritz Research indicates that retailers will have to keep that environmental buzz going if they hope to woo Generation Y shoppers. Poll findings indicate that environmental messaging has a major impact on customer loyalty in this key demographic, with 50% of respondents saying it influences their shopping behavior.

Guide to Green, Eco-Friendly Restaurants

No longer a term of environmentalists, going "Green" is a widely understood concept, and it seems hordes of companies are boasting eco-friendly practices these days – from simple recycling to more dramatic measures like installing solar-energy panels. It doesn't appear to be a fad, either... Fabri-Kal is doing its part to help restaurants go green with its Greenware line of cold drink cups and lids.

During the 2007 National Restaurant Association Restaurant Hotel-Motel Show May 19-22, I floated the showroom floor with my Nikon D200 and red Mead notepad, searching for interesting sources to meet my two-story-a-day quota. I ran into a lot of people and took more than 250 photos. Here are just a few interesting anecdotes I found during my McCormick Center journeys.
